Avatars

Get a Voki now!
Get a Voki now!

Meet my new Voki, Sara...she hopes you enjoy creating avatars.

Each of you will be creating your own Avatar. Before creating your Avatar you need to decide what your Avatar will say and record the voice. It should be no less than 20 seconds long. It could be a greeting, a famous quote, or rooting on your beloved team.

To record voice - you'll need a microphone and script, what you want to say. Keep in mind the quality of your voice when recording. Your voice should sound natural, like you would really talk. Your voice should not sound like you are reading from a script - it should be animated, having some inflection.

When your script is ready - practice out loud 2 or 3 times before recording. When you have practiced and you are ready to begin follow the following steps:

1. Plug microphone in
2. With your mouse, select start / accessories / entertainment / sound recording
3. Select red button to record
4. play back, if you like it, save it to your P drive under project folder
5. If you don't like it, select file new, don't save, and record again.
6. Once your recording is completed and you have saved it to your P drive, you are ready to make your Voki Avatar

Go to http://www.voki.com/, sign up and have fun creating your Avatar.
This week's Blog assignment - due by Friday, November 5th. On this blog discuss your experience in creating your Avatar. Was it fun? What did you have trouble with? How could this Avatar be used?

On your Blog - using the Edit HTML tab - post your Avatar.

Welcome to Our Blog!

Hello 2nd Hour and Welcome to your class blog!! We will use this blog for many purposes in this class. Our main purpose will be to learn about blogs and how they are used in everyday life. We will also use them for class assignments and communication within the class.

My goal is to do oneblog post a week. The blog will be posted on Monday and you have until the following Friday to complete the questions on the blog by leaving a comment. Some posts will be required to be completed during class.

Before we begin blogging there are a few ground rules to be set!

1. All posts, must use appropriate school language and completed in paragraph form. When you post, you should be using complete sentences with proper grammar and spelling. NO: U, R, UR, i, CUZ, etc.
2. When Posting a comment, you may agree or disagree with another students comment. However, you must state why you feel that way and must do it in a manner that is polite and non-judgmental. The comments need to be non-personal and refrain from sarcasm and put-downs.
3. You must comment on every article, it is an assignment.
4. You must address the topics and questions posted on the blog. You cannot simply write, “I agree.”

Your first assignment:Your job today will be to introduce yourself. Provide some background information, discuss things you enjoy doing, your family, and your future plans. Then answer the following Questions:

1. What do you already know about blogging?

2. Have you ever used/hosted a blog?

3. What would you use a blog for in your personal life?
